Britney Spears’ performance at the Alerus Center now has another new opening act.
Ciara had been opening for Britney’s "The Circus" North American tour earlier this year, but was replaced by 19-year-old Jordin Sparks. Sparks won the 2007 American Idol contest, performed the national anthem at Super Bowl XLII and has two hit albums under her belt (which received Grammy and American Music Awards nominations).
Kristinia DeBarge will still help open the show as well.
The GF Herald’s arts editor, Paulette Tobin, is working on a story about the changes – you can read it here (it probably won’t be finished until later today, but it will be updated).
I know this announcement probably won’t be a big deal to the usual readers of Valley Sound, and I honestly had to ask someone who Jordin Sparks was when I heard the news.
But I figured this would be a good chance to see if you had any ideas on interesting angles for covering Britney’s Sept. 12 show in GF. I’m still trying to line up press passes, not for the quality of music that will be there that night, but because I think the show is a big test for the Alerus Center and it will be interesting to see just what happens.
I don’t want to write a regular review of the show, and am trying to think of some interesting ways of covering GF’s most buzzed about concert in many years. Any ideas?
