Born to Roam picks up another victory

There was another Rock Band competition last night at Southgate, and this one actually proved to be more of a battle than previous nights. Born to Roam was pretty slim – two of our usual band members were out of town, so that just left Ben on guitar and me on drums. I got there late after work, and after playing "Tom Sawyer," we pulled into the lead for the night. But then Iguana, another two-piece band, performed a song and got ahead of us, leading to a battle of the bands at midnight to determine the winner. I was worried about it, but we ended up destroying "Gimme Shelter," which I will admit is a much easier song that "Pinball Wizard" (what the other band played). But we still won, which means we got a $50 bar tab to Southgate.

The next night for the Grand Cities Rock Band Tour is next Thursday, Nov. 12, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Long Haul Saloon.
